Amman Utd 13 Llanybydder 12
Llanybydder travelled to the Amman Valley to play recently improved Amman Utd, with both clubs eager to pick up points in order to avoid the second relegation spot.
The away side continued their recent trend of starting slowly, and soon conceded a try to Amman’s Dan Jones following a forward drive,converted by fly-half Adrian Thomas. Both sides missed kickable penalties, with the scrum in particular becoming a problem area, before Rhys Thomas extended Amman’s lead to 10 – 0 , with a penalty.
Llanybydder showed a lot more urgency in the second period, and tried to up the tempo with a number of tap penalties and quickly taken lineouts. A number of overlaps were created, and finally a try was scored as fly-half Tom Wilson was released down the right touchline. Soon after, a similar move released full-back Steff Davies, who made a number of linebreaks during match, and Davies crossed in the same corner. An excellent conversion by Wilson took LLanybydder ahead 12 – 10. Amman replied with a further penalty from Joel Foster, and the last 10 minutes saw end to end action , and a series of missed penalties and drop-goals as Amman Utd hung on for a narrow 13 -12 win , which narrows the gap in the League table with Amman having matches in hand. Llanybydder are away to Pontarddulais on Wednesday, and are home to Pontyberem the following Saturday
