Fishguard 16 - Llanybydder 24

Fishguard 16 Llanybydder 24

Llanybydder travelled down to Pembrokeshire, and came away with victory after a huge all-round effort.  The home side applied early pressure , but solid defence kept them out.  Llanybydder replied with a period of pressure with half-backs Dion Thomas and Llyr Tobias varying play well, and some darting runs by winger Llyr James confirmed his return to full fitness.   An early penalty from Steff Davies gave the visitors the lead,  soon followed by a try for full-back Jac Wilson , who sprinted in from 30 yards as he supported a classic break by centre Elia Pellegrotti.   Fishguard replied as their lively openside Chris Sousha took a quick tap penalty and ran in almost unopposed from 40 yards.  A conversion and a further penalty from fly-half Alun George ensured a half-time lead of 10 – 8 for the home side.

Llanybydder had the advantage of the conditions in the second period as maximum commitment secured the victory.  Jac Wilson , on dual registration with Swansea, showed his class as he switched between full-back, inside-centre and fly-half to cover injuries.   He kicked 3 long range penalties, and scored the only try of the half as he supported a perfect grubber kick from fly-half Tobias.   Fishguard had periods of pressure, leading to a yellow card for Bydder flanker Wyn Davies for not retreating after a quick tap penalty.   2 penalties for fly-half George kept the home team within range, but it was the visitors who sealed the victory.

Llanybydder now have two weekends off, before entertaining Mumbles on Saturday 12th of November
