Llanybydder travelled to Parc Y Mynydd Mawr and secured a losing bonus point after another brave effort. Both sides look rusty after recent period of inactivity due to postponed matches and the 6 Nations. Tumble scored an early try through wing Mike Edwards, but the visitors settled with the forwards giving some good ball for the backs to use. Rhys Morris showed his versatility by filling in as hooker, whilst Bleddyn Jones again switched from back row to the centre. As Llanybydder gained in confidence, they took the lead with unconverted tries from backs coach Llyr James on the wing, and centre Teifion Davies, playing on permit from NCE. Tumble responded with a try for centre Steffan Price, converted by captain Steve Hewitt to give the home side a 12 – 10 half time lead.
There was a penalty each for Hewitt and visiting fly half Llyr Tobias in the second period. However, despite having a better share of territory Llanybydder were unable to recover the lead. Tobias saw a late penalty attempt bounce back from the cross-bar as Tumble hung on to claim victory.
Next Saturday, Llanybydder entertain Mumbles in a re-arranged League match.
