Llanybydder 56 Tumble 64
There was a feast of attacking rugby at Parc OJ as the players served a treat for the loyal spectators. Both teams attempted to run the ball from their own 22 on occasions, but coaced of both teams will no doubt be concentrating on their defences this week. Tumble had a well organized line out, and an efficient driving maul with hooker Dafydd Humfryes collecting a hat-trick of tries from close range, whilst blindside Darren Williams crossed for another similar try. Scrum half Iwan Morgan crossed for 2 tries for the away team, with Steffan Owen also crossing as well as a penalty try awarded after a scrum was wheeled. The final try was the best effort as a move from their own 22 was competed by wing Mike Edwards. Captain and flyhalf Steven Hewitt varied play well and kicked one penalty and 7 conversions, many from a wide angle.
The home side played their full part in the entertainment, with early scores for centre Bleddyn Jones, and open-side Dion Howells. Both tries were converted by fly-half Llyr Tobias who added a penalty as the visitors led by 38 – 17 at half-time. Playing with the slope , Llanybydder had a purple patch at the start of the second period as they scored almost at will , and took an unexpected 41 – 38 lead. Excellent no 8 and skipper Ricky Davies crossed first after early pressure, followed by a fine individual run by centre Llyr James. Bleddyn Jones crossed for his second after a fine run down left wing by Luc Evans, with lock John Evans and scrum half Jac Thomas also scoring tries. Tobias kicked 4 conversions and 2 penalties as the home side claimed a try bonus point, but yet again lost another bonus point by conceding a late try.
Llanybydder travel to Loughor on Wednesday evening, and face another trip to Pontyberem next Saturday
