Llanybydder 11 - Hendy 31

Llanybydder 11    Hendy   31

The home side played their first match in 6 weeks ,  and in the end it was the lack of match fitness that was decisive as Hendy won comfortably to maintain their promotion challenge.   Llanybydder shaded the first half with the scrum again strong,  allowing No 8 Ricky Davies to carry effectively, and flankers Stuart Phillips and Chris Powell to compete at the breakdown.  The home side took the lead with a penalty by full-back Steff Davies,  soon followed by wing Ross Holder chasing a chip through for a well worked try, extending lead to 8 – 0.     Hendy replied with 2 penalties following some interesting interpretations  by the match official

After the break, the visitors took control as their obvious superior match fitness became evident.  Hendy scored 3 tries , the best being a superb individual effort by their outstanding full-back Ifan Beynon-Thomas  as he entered the line in a three quarter move , and evaded 3 home defenders in a 50 metre run.    He later added another try, whilst Dyfan Williams also crossed for the visitors.   4 penalties and 2 conversions were shared between Gareth Thomas, Scott Tudor and Steffan Howells, as vistors secured a deserved win.

Llanybydder have another free weekend, before traveling to Tycroes for the next League encounter.
