Llanybydder welcomed Loughor to Parc OJ in a League encounter. It was the visitors who started strongly with left wing Trevor Jones bursting through the midfield to score the first try. The remainder of the half saw possession shared as both sets of forwards secured set-piece ball, and the respective scrum-halves Steve Wake of Loughor and the home team’s Jac Thomas varied play well. Both defences were solid as only other scores in first half were penalties for Loughor’s Trevor Jones and one for Steff Richards for home side,to leave the visitors leading 8 – 3 at the interval.
The second period was disappointing for the home side, as the visitors experienced forwards took a grip on the match. Llanybydder’s coaches will be concerned at the discipline as a series of penalties were awarded to Loughor throughout the half. The visitors intelligently kicked their penalties to touch, and on 3 occasions their experienced pack drove an attacking lineout over the line, for 2 tries for prop Richard Bowen, and one for No 8 Jonathan Phillips, the bonus point try arriving deep in injury time. All 3 tries were converted by Trevor Jones. Llanybydder’s kept attacking throughout, but their only reward was a try on the left wing for Luc Evans.
Next Saturday, Llanybydder travel to promotion seeking Hendy , for another tough match
