Llanybydder 20 Laugharne 18
Two evenly matched teams played a re-arranged match on Friday evening at Parc OJ, Llanybydder. The visitors outscored Llanybydder by 3 tries to 2, but the place kicking of home fly-half Steff Richards proved decisive as he converted 2 tries as well as securing 2 penalties. Early pressure from Laugharne led to a try for prop Dorian Harries, but it was the home side who dominated the rest of the half. There were tries for centre Arwel Thomas and captain Ricky Davies from No 8 to give Llanybydder a 17 – 5 lead at half-time.
The visitors responded early in the second half with a try for scrum half Gethin Jones as he spotted a gap on the blindside of a ruck, and ran in from the half way line. Centre Tom Jameson added a penalty, before Richards responded with a penalty for home side. An unconverted try for Laugharne flanker Rhodri Rees brought the score to 20- 18, and late Laugharne pressure was met by a solid home defensive effort to decure the narrow victory.
