Llanybydder entertained Gorseinon from Division 1 West, in this Swalec Plate fixture , played on Thursday night. The coaches took the opportunity to rotate the squad, giving starts to Stuart Morgan at blindside, Llyr James at scrum-half, centre Gethin Davies, and young Dan Garside on the left wing. They all fitted well into the team as Llanybydder produced their best performance of the season.
The visitors took the lead with an early try after Llanybydder were slow in clearing their line, but the home side dominated both territory and possession for rest of the half, with the front row of Alun Davies, Paul Gravell and Mathew Evans dominating the tight exchanges. There was 2 tries for lock Gavin Boak who used his strength to cross twice from close range, after good build up play by the whole pack. Gorseinon crossed for a try at the start of the second period to keep them in the match, but it wasn’t long before centre Gethin Davies crossed for the 3 rd home try, swiftly followed by skipper Stuart Phillips running in from half way for the 4th try. There was an excellent display of linekicking from Tom Wilson , who also added 2 penalties and all 4 conversions to make the final score 34 – 10 to the home side.
Next Saturday Llanybydder return to League action with a visit to Hendy in Division 2 West
