Llanybydder welcolmed Tumble to Parc OJ , with players welcoming a match after a period of inactivity after postponements. In a very even match, it was the visitors who took the lead with a penalty from Leighton McKenna. The home side replied with a period of pressure and were rewarded when full-back Steff Davies hit a good angle from a pass from scrum-half Llyr James to cross for a try, which he converted himself. Tumble’s well-drilled driving lineout became more effective, and hooker Dafydd Humphreys benefited for a try to make the half-time score 8 – 7 to the visitors.
The home side started the second half well, and it was in form No 8 Ricky Davies who crossed from close range, converted by full-back Davies. McKenna replied with a penalty to leave the home side leading 14 – 11. Both teams squandered opportunities, and with time running out, Tumble had one final opportunity with a lineout five metres from the line. Their forwards secured the ball, and drove forward leading to the crucial score for hooker Humphreys. The conversion was missed , but the Tumble forwards had secured a 16 – 14 victory.
