Llanybydder 17 - Milford Haven 12

Undefeated League leaders Milford Haven were the visitors to Parc OJ,  and the home side responded with their best performance of the season, as they competed for the full 80 minutes.   Backs coach Llyr James playing at fly-half scored the first try as he spotted a gap in the Milford defence and accelerated through for a fine individual score, converted by full-back Arwel Thomas.   Milford replied with a solid scrum and organised line-out providing plenty of ball,  eventually leading to strong running centre Dan Birch crossing for a try converted by scrum-half  Dan McClelland.  Arwel Thomas replied with a penalty to give the home side a 10 – 7 interval lead.

The away side started the second period strongly, and a fine run by outside centre Dan Jenkins led to an unconverted try to give Milford a 12 – 10  lead.  However, Llanybydder had the elements in the second period, and several long touch-finders by full-back and Man of the Match Thomas kept pinning  the visitors back in their own 22.  Skipper Ricky Davies, who was again prominent at No 8 took a quick tap penalty and fed supporting winger Carwyn Blayney for the vital try, which was converted from the touchline by Thomas to give the home side a 17 – 12 lead. Both teams gave maximum effort, but solid defence ensured that there was no more scores.

Home coaches Richard Davies and Llyr James were pleased with the effort, as the whole squad gave full commitment for the full 80 minutes. Milford gained a losing bonus point, and still remain favourites for promotion.
