Llanybydder 19 Fishguard & Goodwick 7
The home side claimed victory against the Seagulls from Pembrokeshire in a keenly contested match. It was the visitors who started strongly , with skipper and hooker Gavin Walsh leading his troops well, and back row Chris Shousha carrying effectively, and they were rewarded when strong running no8 Simon James crossed for a try which was converted by fly-half Kial Keane. Llanybydder replied with a period of pressure, eventually leading to a deserved try for lock Aled ‘Tandderi’ Evans, which was converted by full-back Llyr Davies. The home side soon scored again , after the ball was passed out to left-wing Dafydd Adams, the youngster sprinted away from half-way, beat the last defender on the outside to score a great individual try, which was again converted by Llyr Davies, to give a half-time score of 14 – 7.
The second half saw both teams having chances, but the only score was another try for winger Adams, to extend lead to 19 – 7. Home skipper Stuart Phillips was again outstanding at the breakdown, as well as being the main target at lineout, whilst No 8 Ricky Davies and hooker Alun Davies both carried effectively as usual to gain the hard yards. Home half-backs Llyr James and Dion Thomas controlled play to guide LLanybydder to the needed victory.
Next Friday, Llanybydder entertain Haverfordwest at 7.15 in a re-arranged match
