It was a difficult day at the office for the Llanybydder team as they travelled to Underhill park ,Mumbles. On top of injuries and unavailability , most of the players were held up in traffic congestion as the area proved to be a popular destination on the sunny afternoon. There was barely time for a warm-up leading to a disastrous first half for the away team. To their credit, Mumbles looked a well-drilled outfit with the half-backs giving direction and full-back Andrew Evans the star performer as he made excellent yardage at every opportunity. The home side scored 6 first half tries as forwards and backs combined well, and with 5 conversions and a penalty, the interval score was 43 – 3 to Mumbles. Centre Steff Wilson replied with a penalty for the away side.
The Llanybydder coaches demanded an improved second half performance, and the players responded as Llanybydder controlled possession for long periods. A series of forward drives led to a try to forwards coach Richard ‘Dickie’ Davies . The scoring was completed by another try and conversion for Mumbles ensuring a 50 – 8 home win.
