LLanybydder 12 St Clears 8
Llanybydder responded to last week’s heavy defeat in the best way possible with a narrow victory over St Clears. The pitch held up well in the miserable conditions, and the 2 packs had an even contest in the set-pieces. The home side’s back row of Dion Howells, Liam Fitzpatrick and Captain Ricky Davies at No 8 foraged successfully winning several crucial turnovers and penalties. Scrum half Jac Thomas controlled play well, whilst fly-half Steffan Richards kicked the 4 penalties. St Clears replied with a penalty for full-back Geraint Jones ,and a try from close range for No 8 Mike Jones. Both teams had chances for further scores, but excellent defence prevented further tries.
Llanybydder face a difficult match next Saturday,as they entertain Division 1 Crymych in the WRU plate competition.
